Interdisciplinary Scientific and Practical Conference “Antibiotic Resistance as a Key Problem of Modern Medicine”

An Interdisciplinary Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Antibiotic Resistance as a Key Problem of Modern Medicine” was held in Tashkent at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The event was organized by the representative office of Bionorica SE in honor of the company’s 20th anniversary in Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Medical Express journal served as the informational partner of the conference.

At the opening ceremony, the participants were welcomed by Professor F. A. Akilov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Urology at the Tashkent Medical Academy, and Chairman of the Republican Scientific Society of Urologists of Uzbekistan.

A presentation titled “Bionorica: Unleashing the Power of Nature. Strengthening Health” was delivered by Professor Dr. Michael A. Popp, CEO and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of BIONORICA SE.

Professor Andre Gessner (Germany), Director of the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene at the University of Regensburg, presented his report “Antibiotic Resistance in Modern Medicine — Scientific Perspectives in 2025.”

A report on “Challenges of Antibiotic Resistance in Pulmonology Practice” was presented by Professor N. N. Ubaydullaeva, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Pulmonology at the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Professor G. Z. Yeshimbetova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor at the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatal Medicine at the same Center, gave a presentation on “Antibiotic Resistance — a Growing Challenge in Gynecology.”

Associate Professor S. S. Kariyev, Doctor of Medical Sciences, from the Department of Urology and Andrology at the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, delivered a report on “Antibiotic Resistance in Urology: Current Issues and Prospects.”

The conference concluded with a Q&A session.
